Asiatic Wedding Rites

Eastern marriage festivities are full of rich culture and traditions. From intricate meals to beautiful hand- drawn henna designs on the bride’s japanesegirls hands and feet, to the ceremonial lighting of a sacred fire and tying of the couple up with silk ribbons, each detail is considered to be symbolic and critical for the marriage.

Numerous spouses read a fortune teller or a Chinese priest to help them choose an auspicious time for their wedding. They even seek out the assistance of their mothers and ask them to bestow their blessings on the union.

Guests generally offer gifts to the bride and groom at the ceremony. The groom’s relatives usually offers a scented handkerchief to the wife, and the couple’s parents give the few decorated leaves of Sakaki ( a sacred trees used in adoration of angels). There is no best man or giving aside of the wife in a Shinto ceremony ceremony and a few comments are spoken by the preacher before the meeting concludes with the couple offering the leaves of Sakaki along.

In Indian marriage ceremonies, the wife wears a blouse which is a lengthy piece of fabric draped around the body and embellished with intricate adornments. The wedding wears a saree which is a long cover- like garment. At the festival, visitors pour holy waters from their conch shells over the couple’s joined hands to love them and give their best wishes. During the greeting, there are usually cat dancers which are believed to ward off evil spirits.
